Eligibility

Who Qualifies for Equipment Access

  • Valid Texas CLP for the requested class and applicable restrictions/endorsements
  • Any legally required medical certification and ELDT status
  • Required CLP holding period and DPS eligibility (verify with Texas DPS)
  • Safety approval and compliance with rental rules
  • Confirmed service schedule and signed rental agreement

People working toward a CLP may receive information but may not schedule vehicle operation. FastPass CDL does not serve out-of-state applicants.

Class A

Class A Truck & 28-Foot Trailer

A Class A combination vehicle with a 28-foot trailer. Air-brake status and transmission type are confirmed before scheduling. Customers must verify configuration matches their CLP restrictions and DPS requirements.

Class B

Class B Straight Truck

Class B equipment access may be available for eligible CLP holders. Contact FastPass CDL for current availability, configuration, and pricing before submitting a request.

Safety & Supervision Rules

Safety Rules & Required Supervision

  • A CLP holder generally may not operate a CMV on public roads without a properly licensed CDL holder present. Required supervision is included in the access fee when applicable.
  • A safety briefing may cover equipment rules and safe use. It does not constitute vocational instruction.
  • Equipment use is limited to confirmed dates, locations, and conditions in the rental agreement.
  • FastPass CDL may refuse or suspend access for safety rule violations at any time.

Test-Day Availability

Test-Day Vehicle Availability & Substitution Policy

FastPass CDL plans equipment continuity when confirmed and operationally available. Safety or maintenance needs may require a comparable substitute vehicle. Test-day vehicle availability is confirmed only in writing after the rental agreement is signed and payment is received. If DPS changes or cancels your appointment, specific reschedule and cancellation terms are stated in the rental agreement.

Specify the equipment class (A or B), whether you need yard access, and whether you have a confirmed DPS appointment date.

FastPass CDL reviews equipment availability, eligibility, and safety requirements. Review the rental terms before confirming.

Sign the Equipment/Access Agreement & Pay the Rental SKU

Sign the rental agreement and pay the applicable access fee. A confirmed reservation exists only after written agreement and payment are completed.

Use Equipment During Confirmed Dates & Conditions

Use the equipment only during confirmed dates, locations, and conditions. Texas DPS controls all testing, scoring, and licensing decisions.

Equipment Rental Questions

Does the rental fee include driving lessons?
No. The equipment/access fee does not include instructional hours. Any separately available limited orientation is governed by its own terms and is not included in the rental.
Can I request only the truck and yard without any orientation?
Yes. Eligible CLP holders may request truck, trailer, and yard access without purchasing any other service, subject to availability, eligibility review, and rental terms.
Is the same vehicle guaranteed for my DPS test?
FastPass CDL plans equipment continuity when confirmed and operationally available. Safety or maintenance needs may require a comparable substitute. Test-day availability is confirmed only in writing.
What happens if DPS cancels my appointment?
Specific reschedule and cancellation terms are stated in the rental agreement. Contact FastPass CDL immediately if your DPS appointment changes.
Does FastPass CDL schedule my DPS appointment?
No. Texas DPS controls testing, scoring, licensing, locations, and appointment availability. FastPass CDL does not schedule or accelerate DPS appointments.
